Mike Hadaway is an energetic, highly creative education technology solution leader with over two decades of real-world experience in the design, delivery, and sales of enterprise education data solutions.

Overview

Over the past two decades I have helped state, regional, and local education agencies with data integration, public reporting, and enterprise data warehouse projects.   These initiatives have consistently improved educators lives with easy, intelligent access to "hard to reach" data while solving their "Education Data Headache". 


My background spans experience with roles in product leadership, implementation leadership, sales and marketing, and customer success focused on delivering enterprise education technology solutions to the marketplace.  

I am passionate about tackling complex enterprise technology projects and engaging with stakeholders, facilitating an integration of ideas well before the integration of their systems leading to successful solution deployments.  

My management style is derived from a "Servant Leadership" approach, focused on empowering my team members for success while leading with empathy, coaching team members, and developing mutual accountability.

State DOE Reporting and Analytics

State Longitudinal Data Systems (SLDS)

Provided design, development, and deployment leadership in six state longitudinal data system (SLDS) projects managing a team of developers and project managers to develop and deploy enterprise level data warehouse, reporting, and analytics solutions.

K12 Analytics Product Design

Designed and led development of a full-scale education data warehouse solution providing multi-source data integration, metadata architecture, memory-based cube design, with a full suite of interactive dashboards. In addition, this solution provided customers with the ability to perform self-service analytics, reporting, and external data mashup 

Public Education Report Cards

Managed the overall design and delivery of one of the first State DOE online education report card based on Microsoft.NET designed to provide parameterized reporting for the general public to support the requirements of No Child Left Behind.  In subsequent years, I led the design of a P20W State Public Report Card integrating information across multiple agencies providing public access to K12, Postsecondary, and Workforce data. 

SALES EXPERIENCE

My Sales Journey

After over two decades focused on providing education technology solutions for school districts, regional education agencies, and state departments of education, I have developed an expertise in building relationships with education leaders!  At the end of the day, sales is about trust.   My customers trust me and with that trust comes loyalty.  For this reason, I will never sell something that I do not believe in.  To be believable you must be a believer!

I started my EdTech career in 2001 as Vice President of Sales for Otis Educational Systems, a startup focused on education data integration.  During my tenure, I executed a state sales strategy that increased top line revenue by over 300% while closing their first state DOE customer.  

Desiring to work directly with school districts, I moved to Follett Software, where I led all Southeast sales efforts for their Tetradata Analytics Suite.  While at Follett, I exceeded my annual quota every year, closing over $5M in new product revenue over a four year period. 

 

I was then recruited by K12 Corp, the online learning company, to open up their Southeast market for blended learning solutions, which included alternative graduation programs utilizing online education.  During this time, I also met quota while also opening up a new geographical market for their blended learning solutions. 

 

I was then recruited to return to Otis Educational Systems as Vice President of Education Solutions tasked to manage the development of a new analytics product, Nimble.  While there, I led state and local sales, managing a team of solution designers and sales focused project managers, resulting in over $4M in new product license revenue and over $8M in services revenue.
